Why will my cats drink from a metal bowl and not a ceramic one?

I have a ceramic bowl of water next to the cats food that they will not drink from. They prefer to walk to the front room to drink from a metal bowl of water I have in there!

I know cats prefer clean, fresh water - both bowls are changed at the same time?
